Unnerved at the thought of losing his $100,000 special incentive, and having to scrape by on $183,000 per year, St. Louis police chief Robert Tracy has taken a second job as a security consultant at the University of Missouri - St. Louis.
Here's an idea: Why doesn't Roberts live someplace and in a style that he can afford? Maybe he could even live in someplace that costs less than what he can afford; in fact, maybe he could live in some of the neighborhoods in St. Louis where people don't make a fraction of $183,000 per year.
Maybe he could gain some insight into the problems that plague the city, problems which are either caused by or exacerbated by low income.
In fact, maybe administration officials in general could try it. It might be a real eye-opener. Instead of talking the talk, they could see how it feels to walk the walk.
