I Guess It's a Step Up...

June 15, 2023

Speaking of politicians who claim they didn’t know better, another Cabinet member can’t seem to keep her family’s fortune straight when filing reports.

At least this time it’s the Secretary of Energy, not the Secretary of the Treasury.

License to Run

June 14, 2023

Another St. Louis politician got arrested for bribery.

I think that before people can run for office, they should have to take a basic ethics exam. That way, when they get caught in wrongdoing, they can’t claim ignorance.

You Wanna Campaign, You Pay For It

May 29, 2023

When he was running for Senate, Missouri’s attorney general pandered to the far-right base and tried to bully school systems into not having mask mandates, intimating that mandates were illegal, and that school systems would be prosecuted. When several of them filed suit, he backed down. One school system kept up the fight, though, and won, on the grounds that the AG didn’t have the authority to make such rules.

Since the AG was doing it for his campaign, I think his campaign, and not the school system or the state, should have to pick up the legal fees for both sides.
