I was on a road trip the other day, flipping radio stations, and I came across a country station. I didn’t know the song, but I enjoyed it. I actually felt comforted, hearing it. Why?
Because country music is pretty reliable. People sing without synthetic voices. They do sing with a twang, but the voice is all theirs. The lyrics are witty enough to make you laugh, and the songs, at least on the stations I listen to, are not vulgar. Although purists will tell you that there is “new country” and “old country”, the basics never change.
So I settled back and listened with pleasure to a good, reliable source of music until the station faded.
