A Mind of His Own? Not Likely.

May 28, 2025

When I hear Donald Trump spouting words, phrases, and ideas like “antisemitism”, DEI, hydroxychloroquine, “try bombing a hurricane”, “tariffs will lower prices”, Harvard is evil, and other nonsense, I can’t help but think that some malicious person is whispering in his ear, deliberately telling him things that they know will make him sound ridiculous when he parrots them.

What motive? Using a mentally unstable man to sow chaos is the only thing I can think of. And once the deterioration is complete, the puppet master will step in and take control, tossing aside his worn-out tool.

If only we could figure out who’s doing it and stop the rot. Or Congress could get a backbone and stop the abuse of power, giving the puppet master a much-needed setback.

Or maybe I’m just caught up in a conspiracy theory of my own.

From Being Chicken to Playing Chicken

May 21, 2025

Walmart didn’t want to upset the Trump administration, so it cheerfully rolled back any DEI initiatives it had implemented in previous years. Whatever it takes to keep on the president’s good side, ya know.

But how far is the company willing to go to keep The Donald happy?

Only as far as its cash drawer, it seems. Now that tariffs are wreaking havoc on the company’s bottom line, it’s planning to raise prices. That, of course, will make consumers unhappy, and upset the administration’s dream of happy people enjoying a great big beautiful economy and praising Donald Trump.

Trump tells Walmart to hold the line and not raise prices.

Walmart says, effectively, “Sorry, Mr. President, this is business.”

Who’s gonna crack?

Dancing with Delusions

It seems that even ardent Trump supporters have some brushes with reality.

The current nominee for surgeon general lists several hurdles to good health including—wait for it—air pollutants.

So, will she fight the EPA rollbacks that Donald “I’ll undo anything that a Democrat has done” Trump has implemented, and call for air quality controls? How will that play out?

Similarly, Josh Hawley, for whom Trump can do no wrong, is now demanding that FEMA help out his home state of Missouri. FEMA is another federal system that Trump is trying to “improve” (read: dismantle).

I’m really curious: Have politicians reached their breaking points, or will they cave again?
