My email provider wants me to go through the rigmarole of 2-factor authentication in order to keep my account secure.

I’ve read a few letters to various advice columnists stating that the writer’s friend or relative was getting married, but that the guests would have to pay to come. The climax was a letter to Heloise, in which the grandmother was offered a “reduced” rate of $200 instead of the $350 for couples/$275 for singles that other guests were being charged. The grandmother is not going.

Heloise asked, “Well readers, what do you think? Would you pay to go to the wedding?”

If anyone—relative or friend—wanted to charge me for the “privilege” of attending their wedding, my answer would be quite frank:

“I don't like you that much.”
