The Supreme Court ruled that the president can’t be prosecuted for crimes he commits while in office (except for certain circumstances whose guidelines are so nebulous as to be meaningless).
Some people are accusing Trump and his administration of war crimes for an incident in the waters off Venezuela: Fisherman who were in the water after their boat had been destroyed by the U.S. were killed by a second bomb aimed deliberately at them.
Some Trump defenders are using the ruling as a shield to prevent the president from being held accountable.
Well, the president may be immune from prosecution in the U.S. But, will Venezuela and other countries he attacks think that the ruling applies to them? Or will they bring charges of war crimes against the president on their own behalf? And will they win?
Something to think about.
