Summary: Members of a political party will find any behavior excusable if they are desperate enough for a candidate.
A political candidate has allegations of sexual abuse, allegations of sexting women outside his marriage, verifiable posts that denigrate women and Black people, and a Nazi tattoo.
“Great heavens!” say the members of his party. “We can’t have that! Send him away!”
“Great heavens!” say the members of the other party. “LOOK at the sleazeball that they’re fielding. They ought to be ashamed.”
Right?
Wrong.
The party he belongs to is actually making excuses for him, although they excoriated candidates from the other party for similar behavior.
The opposing party doesn’t have a leg to stand on, because they supported their own sleazy candidate all the way to the presidency, and continue to stand by him.
All’s fair in love and politics, and devil take the hindmost, to mix my clichés.
Wake up, Democrats! Graham Platner is NOT a man you want representing you. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
