And a belated Memorial Day thank-you to everyone who served
in our wars.

Life's Like That
June 4, 2012
The whole time I was going up and down that stupid hill, I
was very leery about twisting my ankle.
Today I did it while taking care of the
neighbor’s dog.

Maybe They'd Be Happier If We Stayed Home
June 2, 2012
About six weeks ago we helped clean up a wildlife preserve. We could
have either pulled up invasive species or picked up litter. Since all the
plants look like weeds, we decided it would be safer to pick up litter and
avoid pulling up the native plants by mistake.
FYI--Next year the native plants are just going to have to take their chances. We're done with litter patrol!

Now They Tell Me!

On Wednesday I finished three weeks of hill training (which is my fancy way of saying that I walked up a VERY steep hill with a sandy path that made the climb even harder). On Thursday
the paper sported a headline stating, “Study: Exercise is bad for some.”
Where were they when I needed them????

Just Like the Dog Next Door
June 1, 2012
A killdeer, trying to lure me away from her nest, peeped
incessantly the other morning. She kept it up for 20 minutes! I pointed out that
if she’d just keep quiet I wouldn’t know that I was anywhere near the nest; but she was unfazed by my
logic. I didn't see how she could peep so continuously, but she did.
I have decided that killdeer are the Pomeranians of the bird
world.
Weather Notes
June 1, 2012
All through spring, the weather changes from warm to cold, and you never know quite what to expect, so you wish it would just turn warm and stay that way.
Then June arrives, and you realize you've been too hasty.
