A killdeer, trying to lure me away from her nest, peeped
incessantly the other morning. She kept it up for 20 minutes! I pointed out that
if she’d just keep quiet I wouldn’t know that I was anywhere near the nest; but she was unfazed by my
logic. I didn't see how she could peep so continuously, but she did.
I have decided that killdeer are the Pomeranians of the bird
world.
