And on February 28, 2014 the Statesman ran an article from the Washington Post that cited two recent studies that concluded that "those who eat full-fat dairy products are less likely to become and remain obese than those who do not."
So eat up: Grab the butter and the whole milk and find out once again how good food can taste when you let it.

Another Recipe Off The To-Do List...
March 9, 2014
I tried my hand at Eggs Benedict this morning. I had never made Hollandaise sauce before, so I wasn't sure how it would turn out.
According to my husband, it turned out perfectly.
Turns out I don't actually care for Hollandaise sauce.

I was going to go through the closet and fold winter clothes this afternoon.
Instead I moved 2 turtlenecks and a winter dress to another closet.
Close enough.

It's The Little Perks That Make It Worthwhile
March

For years businesses have been embracing
the idea that perks can mean as much to employees as mere money: Flex time, input
on company policy, a workout room, the odd celebration or two...
So why is it that their CEO’s always get the whopping raises? The reinstated CEO of Penney’s could be cleaning up this year—and not with flex time or a lunch-hour workout.

Says the Associated Press, “J.C.
Penney Co. could increase Ullman’s base salary to $1.5 million for this year,
from $810,606 in the fiscal year that ended Feb. 1, according to a Securities
and Exchange Commission filing Monday. He could also get $5.5 million in stock
awards and is eligible to receive a $3 million bonus.”
Mr. Ullman, are you sure you wouldn’t just
rather have a birthday cake?

How is it easier to pull your shopping cart
over an 8-inch curb to leave it on the sidewalk,
than it is to push it the 26
steps to the cart corral?

A Narrow Escape
March
7, 2014
There’s something primal about the urge to
spring clean. Even people who don’t like cleaning find that they can’t help
themselves.
This afternoon I was sweeping the floor,
and decided to pull out the fridge and sweep behind it. Then I saw that the grille over the coils was dirty, and I swept that. Then I considered removing the grille to really get at the coils. And then I realized that
that was probably the first step down that slippery slope.
Fortunately, the kid next door came over to
see if I could play basketball; so I was saved from staying inside and squandering a perfectly good
spring afternoon.
