For all my friends and family in the East and the Midwest:

The following was an actual conversation at work, none of which I am making up.

J: Looks like we may get some rain.

B: We got a few sprinkles yesterday, but it didn’t amount to much.

J: Yeah, we got a few drops. Everything helps, I guess.

R (walking in): Hey, look, it’s raining!

M (coming in a few minutes later): Look, it’s really coming down!

J (a few minutes later): Well, that sure didn’t last long.

D (walking in from his office): Looks like I missed the rain.

Such is life in the semi-desert. Rain is really an event.
