I wonder if pastors ever get depressed about how church
services are set up. The sermon is in the middle of the service, so if the
pastor wanted to get the congregation all fired up about missions, or not
sinning, or even just being nice to other people, the zeal would all have
leaked away during the routine of the rest of the service. But if the sermon came
after Communion, who would stay and listen? A definite conundrum.
Come to think of it, though, I haven’t been to a service
lately where the pastor wanted the congregation to get fired up about anything.
They just preach a lesson and move on; so I guess they’ve worked it out.
