When the pastor was giving the biography of Katharina von Bora (see the previous post), he also said that her husband, Martin Luther, revolutionized society as well as religion. He (Luther) said that a man should not be ashamed of changing diapers or hanging them on the laundry line outside. That was almost scandalous at a time when men had no role in housework or child-rearing. I had no idea Luther had said that; it made me feel quite warmly toward him.
It’s especially odd, since the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod still treats women as second-class religious and home-life citizens. Maybe they need a refresher.
