Maybe They Just Like Driving

March 8, 2020

The Freedom Convoy is headed to DC to protest COVID-19 mandates.

Don’t they know that most of the mandates have been lifted?

How Badly Do You Need That Junk Mail?

February 11, 2022

We had one of those winter storms where the roads are very dangerous, and people are warned to stay off them.

I was shocked that someone wrote in to the paper complaining that their mail hadn’t been delivered. I personally applauded the mail carriers for having good sense.

Then I saw another letter the next day complaining about mail delivery not happening.

I can’t think of anything so important that a mail carrier needs to risk his or her life to deliver it.

If you can’t have compassion, at least have some common sense.

For the Love of God

November 21, 2021

When people say, “For the love of God…!”, they usually don’t mean it. They usually mean, “For crying out loud!” or something.

But when I hear people gripe about Christmas lights being too early; people complain that stores aren’t being Christmassy enough (remember the Starbucks coffee-cup frenzy a few years ago?); or people have a hissy fit when someone says, “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas,”

I mean it when I say, “For the love of God, stop using Christmas as a reason to be hateful.”

Lightening the Gloom

November 12, 2021

Don't get grumpy when people turn on their Christmas lights before Thanksgiving.

View it as a non-religious attempt to lighten the Fall darkness and cheer people up.
