Doubling Down

September 30, 2023

The leader of a gang of then-teenage thieves who stole millions from Hollywood celebs over a decade ago looked lovely at the premier of a new film about the events.

So much for not profiting from your crimes.

They Went to a Lot of Trouble

Two people caused $1,500 in damage when they broke into a store. They left with 2 bags of shaved ice.

At first I thought they caused the damage in order to get to the ice; but now it seems like the damage was just an extra thrill for them.

He's Guilty Until He Says He Isn't

May 22, 2022

There’s been an ongoing trial regarding shady financial dealings by the Vatican, including an investment in London real estate.

According to the AP, one of the prime suspects became a witness for the prosecution and started revealing what he knew about other defendants.

Now he’s saying he’s actually a victim, and entitled to damages.

I give him an A+ for chutzpah.

Put a Period to that Sentence

 December 30, 2021

Last July, I wrote about Joshua Williams, who was sentenced to 8 years for participation in the Ferguson riots. He committed vandalism, but didn't kill anybody. Prosecutors asked for 15 years, but he got 8.

Lately I've been reading about other sentences handed down: Almost 4 years for a man involved in one of the most violent attacks on police during the Capitol riot; 10 years for a member of a notorious drug gang.

To the best of my knowledge, Joshua Williams is still doing time for smashing a window, stealing some chips, and setting a trash can on fire.
