You know how you sometimes say, “That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard!”,
but you don't really mean it?
Well, I may have a contender.
A University of Illinois study shows that
people actually fear hurricanes with female names less, and are slightly less
likely to evacuate for a female-named hurricane than one with a male name.
Are
you kidding me??? It’s a STORM! A potentially
life-threatening STORM! But because it has a female name you don’t think it
will hurt you???
I’ve heard of gender bias before, but this
is ridiculous!

If they named a hurricane Tiny Tim would people take it less seriously than one named Athena?
