The computers at the DMV kept
going down yesterday, and a lot of people got frustrated and left. As the
clerks were calling numbers, and nobody got up, I wondered if anybody who was waiting
considered just taking one of the open spots.
And indeed, at one point, a woman
said to the person with her, “Didn’t he get here after us?”
(Of course, he may have taken his
number, run out to the car for something, and come back after the two women had
gotten their numbers. Still, it’s an intriguing thought.)
