There have been discussions recently on how to prevent cheating during chess matches. I didn’t know you could cheat at chess; but apparently, if someone in the audience is feeding the moves into a computer, the computer can come up with the next move, and the audience member can signal—through body language or other means—the best next move for the player.
So, how do you combat it? Lock the players in a room where they can’t get help from anybody? Chess can actually be a spectator sport, so that would remove some of the magic.
But, how about those one-way windows that you see in interrogation rooms on TV? If the players were in a room or cubicle with one-way windows, there could still be spectators, but they wouldn’t be able to signal the players.
It’s a thought.
