Maybe They Weren't Following the Case

January 10, 2023

There’s an article in today’s paper about a man whose lawyers are finding reasons to vacate his conviction for murder before he’s put to death in a few weeks. The part that stood out to me was that his daughter and her mother are saying that he was with them in another state when the murders took place. The mother said that she and her daughter would have given the information to the authorities, but were never asked.

Wouldn’t you think that they’d have volunteered the information at some point?

Depends on their prior interactions with, and intimidation by, the authorities. Didn't this used to happen on L & O?

I dunno. The guy had a trial and has been on death row for years. I think I might have mentioned it to somebody--a defense attorney, at least--if my dad were on trial for murder.
