In “Maybe She’s On To Something”
(March 1, 2019), I recommended that people who have been sexually assaulted
take a week off work—the same week—so that the negative economic impact might be
enough to make lawmakers really put some teeth into sexual harassment laws.
In Mexico, women have it even
worse. Statistics show that 25% of female homicide victims are killed in the
home. These women are living in desperate times.
Tired of their government’s
indifference to attacks on women, many women are striking today in protest.
The economic impact in Mexico
City alone could hit $300 million. (As always, I reduce that by a third, but
that’s still a pretty hefty chunk of change.)
I sincerely hope that they can
effect necessary changes.
